Upcoming events and meetings include a community meeting with the Blaine police chief, the Blaine Spring Block Party and a local headlining a Bellingham concert.
Blaine police chief Rodger Funk will hold a community meeting to discuss community concerns and answer questions 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at Blaine Community Center, 763 G Street.
Funk will talk about speeding, illegal fireworks and fentanyl, among other topics.
Blaine’s Spring Block Party will take over downtown Blaine with a street fair, youth activities, live music and more from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 (BBBPRD2) is hosting the free festival, which will also have a beer garden and food trucks. The event will close a block of 3rd Street, from the Blaine Public Library to the Blaine Police Station, and a block of H Street, from the police station to Border Town Pizza.
The street fair and food trucks will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., kids activities will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the beer garden and live music will start at 1 p.m.
Veronica North will be headlining at The Wild Buffalo House of Music in Bellingham at 7 p.m. Friday, May 23. The event is for ages 21 and over.
North is a Birch Bay resident who attended Blaine schools. North’s music can be found streaming on all major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
North will play folk/pop tunes from her new album “Home to Me” at the concert. Tickets can be purchased for $15 online at wildbuffalo.net. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
