New coffee spot: Husband-and-wife team bringing Moe’s to Blaine

Blaine is getting a new spot to grab a coffee on the go this fall.

Moe’s Coffee, a Washington-based coffee shop chain owned by Kaitlyn and Craig Davis, will bring roasted Italian coffee, tea, energy drinks, acai bowls and bagels to 791 Grant Ave.

Moe’s currently has three locations — two in Arlington and one in Darrington. The couple has been working on getting a fourth location for about three years now and is excited to be joining the Blaine community.

“We’ve looked at lots of different areas and lots of different places over time, and the Blaine opportunity just kept coming back,” Craig Davis said. “It felt like our brand and our team could really align with the community there.”

Kaitlyn Davis, a Western Washington University alumna, purchased Moe’s, her first drive thru coffee shop, in 2015 shortly after graduating. A few years later, she opened her first brick and mortar location in Arlington.

“There wasn’t really a lot going on in Arlington in 2018 as far as coffee shops and eateries and things like that, so we were kind of one of the first downtown to create a community hub for people,” she said.

Her husband, Craig, joined as her business partner in 2019, and they’ve been growing the brand together since then.

The Grant Avenue location will be a drive thru with a walk-up window.

“It’s so fun to create new things every day, to bring these creations to life and serve the communities that we’re in these really fun, fresh options, because sometimes I feel like that’s hard to find,” Kaitlyn Davis said. “That’s been really fun in this new season of finding our vision and heading to Blaine.”

While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the Davises are hoping to be open in early November. More information is expected to be released in the coming weeks and may be found at moescoffee.com.

“We’re not a big national chain with no faces behind it. It’s Kaitlyn and Craig and our team, and Lenni, our little girl, and we’re just a small business excited to join a new community,” Craig Davis said.
