Peace Portal Drive reopens after construction

The final stretch of the city of Blaine’s downtown revitalization project appeared to be wrapping up, with both the southbound and northbound lanes of Peace Portal Drive reopened near the roundabout on December 17.

Blaine Public Works Department had previously said it anticipated the project, which started in mid-July and has affected downtown businesses, to finish by the end of the year, weather permitting.

The project has improved Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, replaced trees that were buckling the sidewalk as well as added new sidewalk and street lights.
