Blaine Police Department reports: April 11-18, 2019

April 11, 5:30 p.m.: Blaine police conducted parking enforcement in the 700 block of Ludwick Street. A man was cited and released with a criminal violation for littering and given a parking infraction. He removed his vehicle from city streets in lieu of having it towed and impounded.

April 12, 3 p.m.: Officers responded to I-5 at mile post 273 in reference to a report from Ferndale PD of a hit and run involving a semi truck and trailer in their jurisdiction. The truck hit a utility pole and left the scene headed northbound on I-5. Blaine officers located and stopped the vehicle on I-5 as it entered Blaine. Officers identified the driver and took photographs of the damage to the truck. Officers forwarded all information to Ferndale PD.

April 12, 8:50 p.m.: Officers responded to a reported vandalism at the Semiahmoo Marina. The complainant reported his tire was cut during an argument with other individuals driving recklessly in the area. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and were not able to obtain any security camera footage related to the event.

April 12, 3:51 p.m.: Officers working traffic enforcement observed a vehicle whose registered owner has a license status of suspended in the third degree. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the registered owner. Officers arrested, cited and released the individual with a mandatory court date.

April 13, 1:35 p.m.: During a routine DOL license plate check while out on patrol, a Blaine officer found the registered owner of a vehicle had a suspended driver's status. The officer stopped the vehicle and positively identified the driver as the registered owner. The man was arrest, cited and released with a criminal citation. A licensed driver arrived and took possession of the vehicle.

April 13, 9:31 p.m.: Officers responded to the Peace Arch port of entry for a minor in possession of marijuana. Officers arrived and confirmed that the substance was marijuana. An officer arrested the minor and issued a him a court date. The minor was then released.

April 14, 3:15 p.m.: Business reported their driver went to pick up a trailer filled with peanut butter in Blaine but discovered it had been stolen. Business said the GPS attached to the trailer indicated the trailer was located in Montana. A stolen vehicle report was signed and the trailer entered as stolen. Dispatch contacted the Montana State Police and informed them of the stolen trailer. Later in the evening the owner called to report someone accidentally picked up the trailer and they no longer wanted it reported stolen. Dispatch was notified of the update.

April 15, 9:11 a.m.: During routine patrols Blaine police located a person driving with a suspended license. The driver was also found to have three misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and was booked into Whatcom County Jail along with a new driving charge.

April 15, 12:20 p.m.: Officer was on routine patrol when they observed a person who had a Blaine warrant for his arrest standing in his back yard. Officer arrested the person for the warrant. Officer transported the arrestee to Blaine City Hall where they paid their bail and signed a promise to appear. Person was released, and the warrant removed from the system.

April 15, 2:12 p.m.: A transient camp was reported along the beach of Drayton Harbor near the Blaine public boat launch. Officers investigated the camp and found it to be uninhabited and abandoned. Public works will be contacted to assist in clean up.

April 15, 10:53 p.m.: Officer was dispatched to take a runaway report. Officer arrived at the home and the parents completed a runaway report. The juvenile was entered into databases. Dispatch advised the runaway had been picked up by the Bellingham police on a warrant for his arrest. Officer notified the parents their son has been located and was going to the juvenile detention facility.

April 16, 6:45 a.m.: Complainant reported his girlfriend would not give him the keys to his vehicle. Officers arrived and spoke with the complainant and the girlfriend. Officers determined the vehicle in question was not registered to either one of them, the registration had expired, neither person had title to the vehicle and neither had valid driver licenses. Officer advised both parties this was a civil matter and need to be dealt with in civil court.

April 16, 6:28 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a hit and run. Officers were notified a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Mitchell Avenue, turned onto Cherry Street and slid into the stop sign. The female driver then left. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the vehicle(s) involved.

April 16, 11:11 p.m.: Blaine police responded to a residence where it was reported that a juvenile male got into an argument with his father and pushed him. Officers arrived to investigate the incident. It was determined that the juvenile did push the father. The juvenile was arrested and booked into juvenile detention for assault 4th degree-DV.

April 17, 1:45 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 700 block of G Street to trespass an individual. Officers arrived and determined he had already left the area. Officers later contacted the individual at his residence and advised him of the trespass. Officers cleared with no further incident.

April 17, 6:56 p.m.: An officer took a report from concerned parents that their juvenile child was provided alcohol and marijuana by an adult. Officers later interviewed the juvenile and forwarded the report to the prosecutor for review.

April 18, 4:07 p.m.: Officers responded to the 2400 block of Bell Road for a report of a non-blocking collision. Officers arrived and determined a semi-truck was attempting to turn into a business and decided to back up in the roadway. During backing up, the semi-truck backed into a jeep that was parked behind it waiting for the truck to turn. Officers provided an exchange of information and will submit a collision report to the state.

April 18, 7 p.m.: At the request of USBP, officers responded to take a California resident into custody for a warrant. During a contact with a possible illegal border crosser, USBP agents discovered the transient man to have a warrant related to arson out of California. The warrant was confirmed; the 35-year-old man was booked into the Whatcom County Jail.

April 18, 7:54 p.m.: Officers responded to a man who ordered a meal and did not have any money to pay for it. Officers cited and released the man for theft. Officers cleared with no further action.

April 18, 7:36 p.m.: Officers were notified of a sighting of a listed missing person from Seattle at the Semiahmoo Inn. Officers contacted the woman and found her to be safe, apparently healthy and not in need of any assistance. Seattle PD was notified of the located woman. Officers cleared.
