Blaine City Council passes budget amendment

By unanimous vote, Blaine city councilmembers on August 23 adopted midstream changes to the 2016 budget that will fund a number of projects.

The mid-year adjustments allocate $180,500 to, among others, fund the city’s strategic economic initiative, neighborhood cleanup projects, microphones for council chambers and new safety rails for the senior center.

Finance director Jeff Lazenby  presented original project recommendations to the council at a July 25 meeting.

The newly sequestered monies will pull from the city’s general fund, the Rural Economic Development fund and capital funds. Grants will also account for a portion of the funding.
