Fans of “Downton Abbey” who are eager to get an early peek at the next season will get their chance at the Semiahmoo Resort.

The Pacific Coast Public Television Association/Friends of KCTS 9 is sponsoring an exclusive sneak preview on Sunday, December 28. The show’s fifth season is set to premiere on PBS on January 4.

“Downton Abbey” follows the lives of the servants and aristocrats who maintain a large English estate at the turn of the 20th century. Since its debut on British television in 2010, the show has become a worldwide phenomenon. “Downton Abbey” won more than 27 Emmys in its first two seasons. It is now one of the most watched television shows in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The fifth season is set in 1924, and organizers are encouraging attendees to wear period costumes. Fans in top hats, boaters, beaded dresses and bow ties will have the chance to win door prizes for their efforts.

Space for the screening is limited to less than 200 people, so organizers recommended reserving seats. Reserve seats by Sunday, December 21 by going to downtonabbey5.eventbrite.com.

The screening will take place on Sunday, December 28 from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. For more information, call Pacific Coast Public Television at 604/685-7375.
