Semiahmoo children’s author Julia Kim will host “Cloud Bird”: A Story Born from the Sky, a family book reading and signing event on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Kim wrote and self-published “Cloud Bird: The First Flight,” a story about a young cloud who wanted to become a bird. The book follows the cloud’s journey to becoming a bird and inspiring the other clouds to follow their dreams, too.
The book was inspired in Birch Bay, where one evening at the beach Kim saw a cloud that looked just like a bird flying in the sky.
The event will include a Q&A, book signing, meet and greet and interactive activities.
Preregistration is not required but recommended, and is free, at blainewa.myrec.com/info/activities/program_details.aspx?ProgramID=29948. Those who preregister will receive a goodie bag and will also have the option to purchase the book for $15.
The event will take place at the Blaine Community Center, 763 H St.
