A big year for Point Roberts' little learners'

Posted

It has been an exciting start to the school year at Point Roberts Primary School. Our little school continues to grow, and we are thrilled to have two classrooms this year. Mrs. Kelly is teaching our transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students, while Mr. Moreno is teaching our first and second graders. Students have settled into their routines, friendships are growing, and classrooms are filled with learning, laughter, and curiosity.

One of the things that makes Point Roberts Primary so special is the strong connection between our school and the local community. We are fortunate to have wonderful partnerships that create meaningful experiences for our students.

Our partnership with the Point Roberts Library continues to be a highlight. Twice a month, library staff visit our school to share stories, lead creative craft activities, and help students check out books. These visits are a wonderful way to build a love of reading while connecting students with their community library.

Fall has also brought some exciting adventures! Students recently enjoyed a trip to the pumpkin patch, where they had the opportunity to explore, learn and make memories together. A huge thank you to our Point Roberts PTO for sponsoring this field trip and supporting these special experiences for our students.

In celebration of Fire Safety Month, students also visited the Point Roberts Fire Station to learn about fire prevention, safety practices and the important work firefighters do to keep our community safe. We appreciate our local firefighters for welcoming our students and providing this hands-on learning opportunity.

Another exciting milestone is the official launch of our school snack program. Students are now enjoying nutritious snacks throughout the week, including fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese and other healthy options. We are grateful to our Food Services and Transportation teams for helping make this program possible.

We are also excited to share that we have launched our after-school activities van. This new opportunity provides transportation for Point Roberts students to participate in after-school enrichment activities in Blaine, helping expand access to experiences and connections beyond the school day.

On Sept. 28, Point Roberts Primary School hosted the Blaine School District Board of Directors meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome district leadership and community members to our school and highlight the special learning community we have in Point Roberts.

Thank you to our families, PTO, community partners, and staff for helping make our school such a special place to learn and grow. We look forward to all the exciting things still to come this school year.
