It might look different this year, but the community will still get to ring in the new year with annual events. The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce will host a Brrr-tual Polar Bear Plunge, which is the event pictured above from last year. Participants can photograph and videotape jumping into the icy water and then send their plunge to firstname.lastname@example.org to enter to win a prize. On New Year’s Eve, the chamber will also host the Ring of Fire and Hope event that will start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 31. Flares will be available at the Birch Bay Visitor Center, 7900 Birch Bay Drive, when it opens at 9 a.m. on December 31, according to the chamber’s website.
