Robert James Reed

April 14, 1961 – November 18, 2025

Robert “Rob” James Reed passed away at his home in Blaine, WA, during the early morning of November 18, 2025, at the age of 64.

Rob was born on April 14, 1961, to Robert “Bob” and Janice Reed, in Portland, OR. In 1968 his family moved their business to Bellingham, WA, where he then attended Bellingham schools. After he finished school, he worked in the commercial fishing industry for many years out of Blaine, working on numerous boats, spending most of his fishing career working alongside his father-in-law, Gary McGee, Sr., on the FV Arctic. After his fishing career, he went to work at Intalco doing janitorial services, until a work injury forced him to retire.

Rob was an avid “car guy” in his younger years and in the years to come before he got hurt. He loved everything about cars, from rebuilding engines to detailing them to make them beautiful. He was very well known to always have a clean car, some would say immaculate. He loved listening to good tunes. He was a classic rock guy, but he really just enjoyed a good song with a good beat. He enjoyed many trips to the Oregon Coast with his family, especially Lincoln City. He was a very proud father and grandfather and loved watching his kids and grandkids grow.

Rob is survived by his wife of 43 years, Michelle (McGee) Reed; daughter Caitlin Reed and son Matthew (Kelli) Reed; grandchildren Brian, Kacie, Madalynn, Kameron and Aubree; brother Greg (Elsie) Reed, sister Teresa Carlisle; sister-in-law Marianne Reed, brother-in-law Gary (Belinda) McGee, sister-in-law Linda Stockton (Bill); bonus daughter Cassandra Scheffer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; best friends cousin Jay McGee and Matt Determan; and special cousins Gordie and Debbie Earl.

He is preceded in death by his mother Janice and father Bob; his brother Philip; father-in-law Gary McGee, Sr. and mother-in-law Nancy McGee; mother-in-law Barbara Wood and father-in-law Troy Wood.

The family would like to thank North Whatcom Fire and Rescue for all of their assistance with him over the last few years. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Rob will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
