Martin Joseph Vezzetti
May 31, 1934 – June 25, 2026
Martin Joseph Vezzetti passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at home with his loving wife by his side. His family finds comfort in knowing he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Martin was born in Bellingham, WA, on May 31, 1934, to Martin and Annie Vezzetti. Raised in Blaine, he developed the faith, work ethic, and love of family and community that guided his life.
A proud Blaine Borderite, Martin graduated from Blaine High School with the Class of 1952. He attended Western Washington College before serving in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and the Army Reserve from 1958 to 1962.
After returning to Blaine, Martin began his career with Border Brokerage Company, where he worked until retiring at age 59. Through the close-knit brokerage community, he met the love of his life, Hilda, who worked at a competing brokerage. Their meeting grew into a beautiful marriage of 57 years.
Together they raised three sons and built a home centered on faith, love, and family. As the years passed, Martin embraced one of the greatest joys of his life—becoming “Papa” to seven beloved grandchildren. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being present for the moments that mattered most. Whether cheering at a sporting event, attending a concert, applauding an award ceremony, or proudly watching each grandchild graduate from high school, he was there. His faithful presence was one of the greatest gifts he gave his family.
Sports remained one of Martin’s lifelong passions. He spent countless hours coaching his sons in Little League baseball, teaching lessons of teamwork, integrity, perseverance, and sportsmanship that extended far beyond the game.
Martin also dedicated himself to serving others. He served on the Blaine School Board for 11 years, volunteered at the Blaine Food Bank for 25 years, and faithfully served as an Eucharistic Minister at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He quietly lived out his Christian faith through humility, kindness, and service.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Sr. and Annie Vezzetti; his sisters, Josephine and Virginia; and his nephew, Chucky.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda; his sons, Bruce (Patty), Robb (Maria), and Wayne (Rachel); his grandchildren, Brian, Aiden, Isabella, Hunter, Jordyn, Ashton, and Evan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Whatcom Hospice for their extraordinary compassion and care. In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation or the Blaine Food Bank in Martin’s honor.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Martin’s life will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the parish hall. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
