Gust Robert Johnson

Gust Robert Johnson was born on July 22, 1945, to Gust Albert and Frances Johnson in Bellingham, WA, and passed away on August 9, 2026 surrounded by his children.
Gust grew up in Custer, WA, fishing and swimming in Dakota Creek, and roaming andexploring the fields and woods with his siblings and friends. He earned money picking berries, haying and peeling Cascara Bark.
If Gust wasn’t out bow hunting or fishing, he was sitting outside with wife, Carolyn, and their dogs watching the birds. When in the Navy, Gust worked in research and development of F4s at Point Mugu, CA. After leaving the Navy he was employed by Intalco as a sheet metal fabricator until his retirement.
Gust was not only creative, inventing and building many projects, but he believed that any job worth doing was worth doing well, and kept at it until it was perfect.
Gust married Carolyn December 24, 1964 at the hitching post in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Gust is survived by his three children, Shelley Hansen (Keith), DeeAnna Carpenter (Joel), and Gust Robert Johnson (Lori); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Gust is also survived by his siblings Marijo Berwick, Jack Johnson and Betty Engels (Mark). Gust was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn, and his sister Annie Hibbs.
The memorial will be held at Enterprise Cemetery on Friday August 21 at 10 a.m. Bob requested that people dress casually as his usual outfit was a gray sweatshirt and jeans.
