The Editor:

As both a federal and county taxpayer, I believe it would be much better and less expensive for the taxpaying funders of the $3.8 million roundabout project near Birch Bay to convert the existing flashing red light to a full traffic light instead.

Roundabouts can be  more dangerous than a four-way stop. I’ve observed the near collisions both on Cordata in Bellingham and Portal Way in Ferndale. Was a simple traffic light considered?

Just a reminder: Disabled parking is helpful to those who are disabled. The permit is available from your doctor if needed and displayed, giving the driver permission to park in one disabled parking spot. Please don’t take up two spaces as was done at the Birch Bay Market on Aug. 14.
