Blaine won its first game of the season at Shorewood High School on October 20.

Blaine led most of the game by one or two touchdowns, but Shorewood had possession and a chance at a winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.

“We had one senior, Cruz Rodriguez, who quite frankly wasn’t going to let that happen,” Blaine head coach Jay Dodd said.

Rodriguez sacked Shorewood’s quarterback twice in the final minutes and Blaine won 31-26. Blaine’s defense played one of its better games of the season, forcing four turnovers including two interceptions by Brian Davis.

In its final home game at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 27, Blaine will try to stop Burlington-Edison from winning and taking the league championship.
