There’s just a few regular season games remaining in the Blaine fall sports calendar as the postseason draws closer.

Borderite football got back on track with a much-needed win on the road against Friday Harbor on October 17. While neither volleyball nor girls soccer were able to upset 2A Sehome nor 3A Ferndale over the week, the teams have a chance to end their seasons on a high note next week.

Football

Blaine football boat raced the Friday Harbor Wolverines on the road October 17, winning 42-21.

Senior receiver Kai Kerwin had one of his best offensive games of the season, scoring two rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown and racking up nine receptions for 100 yards and 11 rushes for 59 yards.

Girls soccer

Blaine wasn’t able to keep up with 2A powerhouse Sehome on October 16, losing 7-0. Blaine’s midfield couldn’t seem to control the game from the start, with Sehome keeping possession for a majority of the contest and constantly pressing the Borderite defense.

Sehome is both the top-seeded NWC 2A team and the top-seeded conference team overall, with an intimidating 14-0-1 record.

After the weekend, the Borderites weren’t given a much easier challenge with a road game against 3A Ferndale (11-3-0) on October  21, losing 3-0.

The pair of losses dropped the Borderites to 5-11-0 on the season with a 3-11-0 conference record.

Blaine’s final regular season game was scheduled on the road against Bellingham, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 23.
