Five years ago this week the U.S./Canada border closed
The Peace Arch border crossing into Blaine on March 23, 2020, two days after the U.S./Canada border-crossing restrictions went into effect at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The restrictions were believed to be temporary at the time. Canada began accepting fully vaccinated U.S. travelers in August 2021 and the U.S. reopened its borders with Canada and Mexico in November 2021.
