County reports biggest single-day jump in coronavirus cases

In its latest update, the Whatcom County Health Department is reporting 31 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one new death related to the illness. That’s the biggest single-day increase in Whatcom County and it brings the total number of confirmed cases to 175 and the total number of deaths to nine.

 

That’s an increase of 89 cases from one week ago, on March 26, when Whatcom County had 86 confirmed cases.

 

As of March 31, there were 5,984 confirmed cases and 247 deaths from the new coronavirus respiratory illness in Washington state, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
