Movie lovers and outdoorsy folk alike can enjoy the upcoming series of outdoor movies in the grassy area across from Hill’s Chevron at 568 Peace Portal Drive, hosted by Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2.
The Summer Outdoor Movie Nights are on Fridays, usually every two weeks, through Sept. 11. All movies are free. No registration is required. “Zootopia 2” will kick-start the showings on July 10.
Other films in the lineup this summer include “The Goonies,” which shows on July 24 to set the tone for Drayton Harbor Pirate Festival on Aug. 1, and “Top Gun” on Aug. 7. The movie nights end Sept. 11 with a showing of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.”
Mia Nyman, BBBPRD2 activity coordinator, said the organization is glad to be able to host events that are accessible and offer an opportunity for community connection.
“It’s the heart of our mission,” Nyman said.
BBBPRD2 encourages attendees to come early to grab a spot on the grass and soak up the last rays of sun before the movie begins at dusk, or around 8-8:30 p.m.
Free popcorn will be available at the Blaine Visitor Information Center, 546 Peace Portal Drive. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an outdoor movie experience with your neighbors.
