CAP Winter Coat Drive to accept donations starting Sept. 1

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Community Assistance Program will begin accepting donations for its annual Winter Coat Drive. 

New or gently-used winter clothing items such as coats, scarves and gloves will be accepted through Wednesday, Sept. 30. 

Used items must be freshly laundered, and donations may be dropped off at different locations in Blaine and Birch Bay: the CAP Clothing Bank, Blaine Library, Blaine Community Center, Pacific Building Center, Birch Bay Village Rec Center, IGA Market, Semiahmoo Marina Cafe and various local churches. 

Coat distribution will be on Monday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Distribution will be available for drop-in with no appointment needed upstairs at the CAP Center, 508 G St.

CAP is seeking volunteers for organization and distribution of donated items. Those interested in volunteering may contact Coat Drive Director Amee Nelson at 360-319-0269 or amee.nelson@yahoo.com. 

CAP is a local nonprofit that provides basic needs assistance to families in Blaine, Birch Bay, Custer and Point Roberts.
