Local authorities are investigating a homicide after a body was found on Semiahmoo Spit Wednesday afternoon, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy Kevin Hester told The Northern Light in an email. Hester said there is no believed threat to the public.

Blaine Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a report of an apparent dead body in Semiahmoo Park around 1:30 p.m. April 7, according to a BPD press release. Both Blaine officers and sheriff’s office deputies are investigating the death.

No further details are being given at this time. The sheriff’s office will release more information later this afternoon or tomorrow, Hester said. Anyone with information should contact the sheriff’s office or BPD.
