A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook B.C. and the Blaine area at 1:26 p.m. February 21. Mike Harmon, city manager for the city of Blaine, said Blaine Public Works Department was aware of the earthquake, but reported no infrastructure damage or power outages within city limits.
The earthquake hit Sechelt, B.C., near Squamish, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. No injuries or damages were reported immediately after the earthquake.
Blaine and Birch Bay residents reported the earthquake was felt in areas including Blaine Harbor, H Street, and Birch Bay Village.
