Blaine High School Drama Club with Shari Akers

Most of us have been in a performance situation – a speech, dance or music recital or a play. These unforgettable moments engage our minds, bodies and emotions in a unique way.

This month, the Blaine Drama Club will perform Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. It’s the perfect elixir to warm your heart, feed your soul and bring back memories of your own.

Blaine schools:

January 8–10, 15–16, matinée 17: “Beauty and the Beast”

You are cordially invited to attend Blaine HS/MS Drama Club’s production of the Disney musical. It’s a magical adventure about finding the beauty within ourselves.

Children who come dressed up royally receive a free “rose scepter.” $5 at the door.

Evening performances 7 p.m., January 17 matinée performance 2 p.m., Blaine Performing Arts Center, 975 H Street.

January 20: High school solo and ensemble concert, 7 p.m. Blaine Performing Arts Center

January 24: The Blaine High School Arts and Jazz Festival 18th annual arts and jazz auction is here. Come join in the fun and help contribute to the arts in our school community, Blaine Middle School cafeteria, 7 p.m.

The Basics - Painting 101 instructional seminars

Great Blue Heron has teamed up again with Uptown Art for Classic Painting Class and Uptown’s Painting 101 instructional seminars.

It is time to use your right side of your brain and get creative! Attend classes in color theory, using painting tools, creating space and fundamentals of drawing.

January 13: How It’s Made: Artist Lecture Series

This series invites you to uncover the passion, inspiration, and technique behind the arts through an engaging discussion with artists. Lecture artist to be announced. 6:30–7:30 p.m. Price: Free.

January 18: Sunday youth concert: A showcase of talented young artists in music, dance, opera and theater. 3–4 p.m. Admission by donation.
