The past year has been strong and successful for Blaine school district. At the core of our work is a shared commitment to student success – academically, artistically and athletically. Blaine students continue to shine across all areas, reflecting the district’s focused efforts to support every learner both in school and throughout the community. To strengthen this commitment, district goals and benchmarks were refined to ensure students remain central to all decision-making.
Enrollment trends brought encouraging news during the 2025–2026 school year. The district reversed a five-year pattern of declining enrollment, finishing the year 27 students above budget. This positive shift reflects growing confidence in the district and its programs. The school year also began on a strong note with the decision not to move forward with the proposed merger of first and second grades from Blaine Primary School to Blaine Elementary, maintaining stability for students and families.
Several important improvements were made to facilities and operations. In fall 2025, the district received a $500,000 emergency repair grant to address the fire suppression system at Blaine Primary School, with repairs expected to be completed by spring 2026. Additionally, the high school cafeteria will reopen for food service on January 12, 2026 after being closed for two years, restoring an essential gathering space for students to eat and interact with peers. Updates to the preventative maintenance work order system have also improved efficiency and provided staff with clearer processes to achieve successful outcomes.
Finally, the district continues to invest in academic growth by implementing a new reading curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade. This is supported by our adoption of a policy and procedure to remove cell phone access from the learning environment. Strengthening both academic and Career Technical Education programs remains a key focus and commitment to students and the community.
Looking ahead, the Blaine school district is well-positioned to build on these successes through continued collaboration and a shared commitment to student success. Thank you for your ongoing support of our students, schools and community.
