Since the U.S./Canada border is closed to all but essential travel, the annual Hands Across the Border Celebration is going online this year.
The event, which celebrates peaceful relations between the U.S. and Canada, will go from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 on Zoom. Participants can register and find a full schedule of events beforehand at handsacrosstheborder.info.
The first Hands Across the Border celebration took place in 1937, and in recent years, it has drawn nearly 2,000 people annually to Peace Arch state and provincial parks to participate in scavenger hunts, educational projects, a parade through
the Peace Arch and other festivities.
