The 18th annual 9/11 memorial service at Peace Arch State Park will take place on Wednesday, September 11 at 10:30 a.m.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will feature short speeches by dignitaries and officials from Washington and B.C. Four first responders from New York City will be the honored guests.

The event will include an honor guard parade, a pipe band, the singing of the American and Canadian national anthems, a minute of silence and other ceremonies intended to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The event will be followed by a barbecue luncheon, with proceeds benefitting Behind the Badge Foundation and Honour House.

Behind the Badge Foundation provides support to Washington state’s law enforcement agencies, families and communities after an officer has died or suffered a serious injury in the line of duty.

Honour House is a refuge for members of the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans, emergency services personnel and their families to stay free of charge while they receive medical care in the metro Vancouver area.
