PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center is asking for donations of equipment, including hand-sewn face masks, to deal with shortages during the new coronavirus pandemic.
The hospital began accepting donations on March 24 and on March 25 changed its procedure for donations.
The hospital is accepting personal protective equipment including N-95 masks and respirators, hand-sewn masks, disposable gloves, medical exam masks, face shields, medical goggles, thermometers and more. A PeaceHealth press release provided this link for instructions on sewing its preferred face masks.
To donate, bring items to the Whatcom Unified Command donations branch at 4233 Guide Meridian, Suite 101, in Bellingham. Drop off hours are 4-6 p.m., everyday from now until Sunday, March 29. The schedule will change as needs increase or decrease, PeaceHealth said in a news release.
PeaceHealth asks that people put donations in the trunk of their cars and stay in the vehicle while a volunteer removes the items.
