The annual beachside event Discover Birch Bay Days took place in Birch Bay on August 16, 17 and 18. This year, the event was combined with Fan Fest Northwest, which came to Birch Bay for the first time. Fan Fest is an annual gathering of fans of the Seattle Seahawks NFL football team.
The combined events resulted in plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Football-related highlights included Coffee with the Mamas – a chance to meet the mothers of current and former Seahawks players – as well as a party at Birch Bay Waterslides hosted by Seattle line dance team Boot Boogie Babes. There was also the Kids Zone Training Camp featuring punt, pass and kick games and the raising of the 12th man flag followed by a group picture.
Traditional Discover Birch Bay Days activities included a chainsaw carving competition, a crab fishing competition, a BMX bike show and a parade. The events also featured live music, vendors, a beer garden and plenty of food. Thousands of people attended the events over the weekend.
