County health department reports two new cases, four deaths for May 7

For May 7, the Whatcom County Health Department reported four new deaths due to Covid-19 and two new confirmed cases out of 80 new test results.  In total, 328 have tested positive for the virus in Whatcom County and 31 have died.

Statewide, 15,905 have tested positive for the virus and 870 have died from it, according to Washington State Department of Health's  May 5 numbers. In the U.S., More than 1.2 million have tested positive and more than 73,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.

As of May 6, 2,255, in B.C. had tested positive for the virus and 124 had died, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

B.C. premier John Horgan announced a plan for the province that would lift some restrictions by mid-May to allow small social gatherings, elective surgeries, re-opening of provincial parks and opening more non-essential businesses.

Around the world more than 3.7 million have tested positive for the coronavirus and more than 264,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
