Blaine Police Department reports: January 23-28

All law enforcement incidents are reviewed on a daily basis by the Blaine police chief. Depending on the nature of the incident, the chief directs police personnel to conduct a follow-up investigation. 

January 23, 11:39 a.m.: Officer was assigned a case of alleged assault with sexual motivation which occurred to a juvenile approximately six years ago. The officer spoke to the parent and determined the assault occurred within the juridiction of Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO). The officer contacted and forwarded the case to a WCSO detective.

January 23, 12:40 p.m.: A person reported the door to their gas cap on their vehicle was stolen within the last few days.  There are no known suspects.

January 23, 2:19 p.m.: Officers responded to the 9200 block of Semiahmoo Parkway for a report of burglary. Officers arrived and determined someone entered the premises at an unknown time and took two television sets from the building. Officers documented the theft and cleared with no further incident.

January 24, 11:53 a.m.: Officers responded to the Blaine primary school for an assault by a teacher on a student. Officers arrived and determined through the course of their investigation that there was probable cause to arrest a teacher for assaulting a student with disabilities. The teacher was booked into Whatcom County Jail.

January 24, 1:14 p.m.: A juvenile disclosed to a mandatory reporter that something inappropriate occurred between them and their parent’s partner of two years ago. The officer took a preliminary report and discovered the incident occurred outside Blaine police jurisdiction. The juvenile is no longer in harm’s way as the alleged suspect is no longer dating their parent and the juvenile is currenlty placed with another family member on unrelated circumstances to this incident. The information was referred to the WCSO.

January 26, 7:03 a.m.: Officers responded to a report of a fight. Officers arrived and from the information available, identified one man as the primary aggressor. The victim was transported to the hospital for stitches. The suspect was arrested and booked into Whatcom County Jail. An RV and dog were removed from the city sidewalk and impounded.

January 28, 12:48 p.m.: Officers found a stolen vehicle that was associated with a homicide. Officers and Whatcom County sheriff’s deputies cleared the stolen vehicle and found the suspect had crossed into Canada. The vehicle was impounded by officers and kept in a secure facility at Pierce County Sheriff’s Office request.

January 27, 4:00 p.m.: Blaine police were called about duck hunters out in Drayton Harbor for possibly being too close to shore while hunting. The boat returned to the harbor before the officer could verify wether or not the hunters were too close, per state law. Fish and wildlife enforcement were also notified of the reported issue.

January 28, 6:32 p.m.:  Blaine police were dipatched to the Peace Arch port of entry to assist WCSO deputies that were unable to respond. U.S. CBP had recovered a stolen vehicle license plate and needed an agency to investigate. Blaine officers determined the man driving the vehicle with the stolen in plate was also a victim of plate theft and had no idea someone had swapped his plate.

January 28, 11:11 p.m.: Blaine police were dispatched to a local motel for a reported problem between two guests. A man complained that his intoxicated neighbor was yelling and then banged on his door. When police arrived, the neighbor’s room was silent and he would not answer the door. The reporting party was advised to call back if the neighbor caused anymore issues.
