Andrea Marie Chaput

September 1, 1960 – September 28, 2014

Andrea started a new journey in the presence of her husband and daughters on Sunday, September 28. She was only 54 years old. Beautiful and sunny, it was a day she would have enjoyed, and a perfect day for a new beginning; all the world’s mysteries will now be revealed to her.

Andrea was born in Gardena, CA on September 1, 1960 to Marlene and Carlos Alvarez. She loved living near the ocean and had a wonderful childhood. As a child, her mother remembers Andrea feeding the ducks bread and

explaining to them how they’d grow up big and strong in ten different ways. In 1970 the family moved to BC where Andrea graduated from North Surrey High School in 1978. Shortly after, she moved to Blaine, WA where she met her future husband, Bill Chaput. Their first date was on Bill’s birthday, January 19. After less than a year of dating Mom knew Dad was the man for her, so she asked him to marry her. Dad loved her so much he didn’t hesitate to say yes.

They were married on January 26, 1983 in Grandpa Louie Freeman’s living room. They raised their 3 daughters Amberly, Bessie and Alisa on the family farm that she loved and where she spent the rest of her life. Mom always said she could smell the ocean from the backyard since it was a short drive to Birch Bay. She enjoyed collecting sea glass on the beach for her many art projects. She also loved gardening, baking cookies and having supper ready when the family came home. Every day she would walk her girls to the school bus, and be there to walk them home to the ‘End of the Trail Ranch’. Mom loved all living creatures-from the cows on our farm to the spiders in her garden. She made friends everywhere she went and had a story for every subject. Mom has an amazing personality and is a wonderful mother.

She is preceded in death by her father Carlos, and is survived by her mother  Marlene Donaghy, mother-in-law Marilyn Mitchell; husband Bill, daughters Amberly  (Kyle), Bessie (Daniel) and Alisa, as well as her 3 grandchildren Savannah, Isla and  Charlie. Our Andrea endured 7 years of stage-4 breast cancer, we were lucky to have her for so long. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Hospice House and the compassionate care the nurses provided. On this Earth, she will be near the family farm at Hillsdale Cemetery in Blaine.

Andrea always said, “never say goodbye, say see ya.” So Mom, see ya, and save a seat by the campfire for us; we’ll save one for you.
