Filing for public office elections begins May 14

The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office wants to remind county residents that filing for public office starts today, May 14, and ends May 18.

Prospective candidates can file the necessary paperwork online starting at 9 a.m. on May 14. Click here to visit the county auditor’s web page dedicated to filing online. In-person filing begins 8:30 a.m. on May 14 at the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office, 311 Grand Avenue, Suite 103, Bellingham. Click here to find all the  documents necessary for filing in person.

The Whatcom County public offices up for election are:

    State Representative, 42nd Legislative District, Position 1

    State Representative, 42nd Legislative District, Position 2

    Public Utility District 1, Commissioner District 2

    Superior Court Judge, Position 1

    Superior Court Judge, Position 2

    Superior Court Judge, Position 3

    Precinct Committee Officer

Filings must be received in the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 18. For more information on filing for elected office, call the auditor’s office at 360/676-6742 or visit the auditor’s website here.
