North Whatcom Fire and Rescue officials will present an update on the fire district's recent increase in overtime pay outs at the district's board of fire commissioners meeting tomorrow, August 18.

Chief Tom Fields and assistant fire chief John Swobody will present a breakdown of all the reasons firefighters have taken overtime pay since January. Fields, Swobody and the board expressed concern at last month's meeting that the district had paid out approximately $42,000 from the overtime budget from January to June. The commissioners have brought this issue up at the last two board meetings.

All the commissioners wanted to be clear that they weren't accusing any firefighters of abusing the way overtime is paid out.
