Part of tonight's (July 25) Blaine school board meeting will include a presentation by business manager Amber Porter on the district's proposed 2011/2012 budget. The school board will also hold a public hearing at which you can express your opinion on the budget and have any questions you might have answered. The school board meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Blaine school district offices, just across Mitchell Avenue from Blaine High School.

Porter will most likely present this Powerpoint presentation, which the district made available on its website on Friday. I've already covered much of what's in the presentation in my story here. Other points on the presentation include a list of projected amounts for all the district's funds and the fact that the district may be able to retain some of the cuts that were proposed in the budget adjustment list (which I wrote about here and here). These cuts were mostly to faculty and staff positions.
The Blaine school board must approve the district's 2011/2012 budget at its August 22 meeting. Porter does not expect the proposed budget to change much by then.
