Alexis McElwain led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
“Her effort has been outstanding game in and game out,” head coach Ryan Pike said. “Her baskets have been falling in the last couple games.”
Taylor V’Dovec scored 10 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for Blaine. Pike said the girls put on a fine display of teamwork and played well on both sides of the court.
“Our defense played really well and with our transition offense we were able to push the ball really well and get some easy lay-ins,” he said. “I counted five or six times that we pushed the ball from baseline to baseline without it touching the ground. So it was a good team effort all around.”
The Borderites faced Ferndale January 14 and lost to the Golden Eagles for the second time this season.
V’Dovec netted a game high 20 points with nine rebounds. Mandy Hayes added 13 points for Blaine. The final score was 64–52 Ferndale.
With the win over Bellingham and the loss to Ferndale, the Borderites are 7–4 overall and 3–1 in the Northwest Conference.
