The Blaine girls’ basketball team continued their winning ways on January 12, defeating Anacortes 54-42 to improve their Northwest Conference (NWC) record to 5-1, 10-3 overall. For those paying attention, that is a mirror image of the boys’ less-fortunate standing.
Stefawn Perrin led the Borderites with a game-high 21 points, followed by Alexis McElwain with 14. McElwain also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to earn a double-double on the night.
The Borderites now sit atop the NWC along with Lynden, Sehome and Burlington-Edison. All four teams have a conference record of 5-1.
The girls next face the Mariners starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20, at Sehome High School, weather permitting.
