Blaine’s high school wrestling team defeated Lynden 51-24 in a Northwest Conference victory on Wednesday, January 4.

Blaine’s Mike Antczak pinned Taylor Whitman in 1:03 to take home the 285 class victory.
The following Saturday, January 7, Blaine competed in the annual Snohomish Panther Classic, taking home fourth overall among some tough competition.
“We were pretty excited [about fourth place] because there were all 4A or 3A teams there – it was a really tough tournament,” Blaine wrestling coach Craig Foster said.
“I thought we might finish tenth or eleventh, but we got fourth, and the kids wrestled really well down there.”
Foster said Antczak finished third after losing to the athlete who would go on to win the tournament. Hendricks and Johnson both finished second.
“It’s good for us to get in to that higher level of competition in order to prepare for state competition,” Foster said.
Blaine next heads to Sehome High School for the Northwest Conference tournament on January 14. The action starts at 10 a.m.
