Blaine seniors Sean Allen, Todd Bird and Andrew Miller were honored for their football exploits even as they continue to forge through the Borderite basketball season.
The productive trio was named this week to the All-Whatcom county football team as voted annually by The Bellingham Herald.
Allen shattered Blaine passing records, completing more than 59 percent of his passes for more than 2,396 yards and 29 touchdown passes to finish second in the Northwest conference (NWC). Bird and Miller were the main benefactors of Allen’s throws, being the first receiver pair in Blaine history to each catch for more than 1,000 yards.
Bird was second in the NWC with 1,078 yards and led the conference with 81 receptions, adding 433 yards on 88 carries rushing the football.
He accounted for 17 touchdowns and even threw a touchdown to Allen in the season finale against Granite Falls.
Miller caught 54 passes for 1,040 yards to finish third in the NWC in receiving. The speedy Miller was Blaine’s home run hitter in the passing game with nine of his 10 touchdowns coming from 50 yards or more.
