Caitlyn Dudley continued to stamp her mark on the Northwest Conference (NWC) on March 31 against Bellingham.
Dudley was three for four at the plate and pitched a one-hitter as the Borderites routed the Raiders 11-2 at Pipeline Fields.
Blaine took an early 3-0 lead, but Bellingham drew to within one on two unearned runs in the fourth inning. Blaine responded quickly though, scoring three in the bottom of the inning and never looking back. Besides Dudley, Amanda Moore, Taylor Trueblood, Natalie Sellers, and Stefawn Perrin each had two hits in Blaine’s 13 hit attack. The win improved Blaine to 2-3 and 1-0 in the NWC.
Dudley came on powerfully the next day as Blaine hosted Mt. Baker for a double-header, pitching a complete game two-hit shut out and chipping in two RBIs as the Borderites blasted the Mounties 10-0. Samantha Wallace, Natalee Sellers and Stefawn Perrin each had three hits and a combined six RBIs to lead Blaine’s 13 hit attack. This game left Blaine with a spotless 2-0 record in the NWC.
The wheels came off in the non-conference nightcap, however. The Borderites started strong and moved out to a 5-2 lead through four innings as Perrin and Sellers piled up four hits. Freshman Ashley Bolick came on in relief of Dudley in the fifth inning, pitching well and locating her tailing fastball away.
Bolick was crippled however by three Blaine errors that allowed Mt. Baker to plate eight runs combined in two innings as the Mounties escaped with a split, winning 10-6. Bolick took the loss for Blaine which has a 3-4 overall record.
