In a game that may foreshadow a district championship rematch later this season, the Lynden Lions scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to deal Blaine a 5-4 opening day loss at Lynden on March 22. After leading most of the game, Lynden rallied to take its first lead getting two runs in the sixth.

Taylor Trueblood retaliated in the top of the seventh with a double that scored the tying run, her second hit and RBI. Amanda Moore and Caitlin Dudley also added two hits each for the Borderites, who fell to 0-1.
