Fifty-six
players turned out for the annual Birch Bay Open Golf Tournament.
Men and women, Calloway and Low Gross divisions were all
played on July 29.
In the mens Low Gross division, Jordan Belton came
in first place with 56 followed by Cory Dent with 57.
Tamara Jones won the womens Low Gross division with
65 followed by Faye LaFond at 79.
In the Calloway division Bill Castro tied with Ed LaFond
for first place with 55. Castro won the playoff.
For the women, Evelyn Fraser came in first with 60 followed
by a tie for second between Darcy Heiber and Caroll York
with 61. Heiber won the playoff.

Becky Riddle had a successful summer with her involvement
with the Junior Olympics. Starting June 30 with the regionals
in Seattle, Becky had a 2nd place finish in discus and a
3rd place finish in shot-put. From there she went to the
western division July 14 with a 1st place in discus and
a 2nd in shot-put.
With these winds, she qualified for the Junior Olympic National
Competition, held in Sacramento, California July 28. At
the nationals she medaled in the discus with a 6th place
finish, and had a strong showing with a 15th place in the
shot-put. Overall it was a great experience and the Riddles
would like to express their appreciation to all those that
have supported Becky..
