2012 cancer society fundraiser collects $2,700

Blaine High School students collected just more than $2,700 for the American Cancer Society, the third-highest total in the fundraiser's seven-year history.

For the 2011-2012 school year, the sophomore class of Blaine High School raised $921.27, while the freshman class came in second place with $748.27. The high school seniors brought in $561.20 while the juniors brought in $498.97.

Since its launch in 2005, the cancer society fundraiser has collected $16,716 for cancer research. The project is run by Blaine High School's Technology Student Association and encourages students, teachers and members of the community to participate in a week-long competition to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
