January 26: An officer was contacted by a Blaine resident who found savings bonds in a garbage can in the 900 block of Peace Portal Drive. The owner was located and the bonds were returned.
January 26: Complainant reported a male subject had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his mouth and was stumbling to his truck outside a business. Officers arrived and stopped the vehicle as it was traveling out of the parking lot. Officer determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Driver was arrested and later released. Vehicle was impounded.
January 25: Complainant phoned police to report a domestic dispute in progress in the 300 block of Alder Street. Officers arrived and after investigating, arrested the male for assaulting his wife. He was booked into jail.
January 24: A resident reported juveniles were making loud popping sounds by a mailbox in the 500 block of 11th Street. A Blaine officer contacted a young adult who admitted to popping closed plastic bottles in the street with his brother. He apologized to his neighbors for disturbing them and removed the flattened bottles from the street. Incident was noted.
January 24: An officer stopped a driver of a vehicle in the 600 block of D Street for exceeding the posted speed limit. An infraction was issued for the offense. After releasing the driver, the officer witnessed her committing another traffic violation. The driver was re-contacted and was issued another infraction for driving on the wrong side of the road.
January 23: Complaint was received that the driver of a vehicle had followed another vehicle around. An officer spoke to the people involved. The second driver thought her daughter was in the first car. Everything was straightened out with no tickets or arrests.
January 22: A local bank reported a counterfeit check. The total loss is $45,000. There is suspect information and the theft is believed to be part of an internet scam. The case has been forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service.
January 22: Officer received a report of theft of prescription drugs from a house in the 500 block of G Street. The complainant could not find them and believed they were stolen while he was gone for approximately one hour. After reporting the theft, the complainant returned home and searched for the pills again. He later called to report that the pills had been found inside the house.
