POLICE REPORTS
February
25: An officer saw a vehicle being driven without headlights
in the evening and pulled into a closed gas station in the
200 block of D Street. The subject got out of the vehicle
and ran north. The officer notified Border Patrol agents
who apprehended the subject.
February 22: Clare County sheriffs office Michigan
requested Blaine officers attempt to locate a male with
a Clare County sheriffs office felony warrant. It
was determined the male had moved from Blaine to Point Roberts.
WCSO was advised and will follow up. Clare County sheriffs
office was also advised.
February 22: An officer received an anonymous report
of a subject inside a business in the 200 block of D Street
with a sidearm in plain view. The officer confirmed he had
a valid CPL. The subject was asked to conceal the weapon.
No crime.
February 22: A city employee requested assistance
in serving legal papers to a business in the 700 block of
Peace Portal Drive. Officers served the papers to an employee
who signed for them.
February 21: Officers assisted WCSO by stopping a
fleeing burglary suspect in the 4200 block of Sweet Road
who was being chased by the victim. The suspect was apprehended
without incident and WCSO took over the case and booked
the suspect.
February 20: Officers assisted Child Protective Services
with a welfare check at a residence in the 1100 block of
Mary Street. Officers arrived and found small children unattended.
Their father had passed out due to marijuana usage. The
children were taken into custody by CPS. The father was
cited.
February 20: A person in the 600 block of E Street
reported his former roommate had taken his vehicle without
permission. The case was referred to the detective for follow
up.
February 20: Officers observed a vehicle leaving
the city at a high rate of speed. Officer followed the vehicle
and paced it at a high rate of speed into the county. Officers
stopped the vehicle and issued an infraction.
February 19: A police officer was assaulted after
she stopped a driver who had been exceeding the speed limit
in a school zone. The driver was placed under arrest after
a short foot pursuit and was transported to Whatcom County
jail.
February 19: An officer responded to a possible domestic
dispute in the 1600 block of Peace Portal Drive. Officers
arrived and learned the owner of the residence needed assistance
in escorting a couple of house guests out of her residence.
Assistance was provided. The officer later determined the
resident was recording the incident without notification.
The landlord was issued a citation for unlawful recording.
February 19: A person was intercepted by U.S. Customs
on a passenger train because he was carrying a small amount
of marijuana. The person was arrested by a Blaine officer,
issued a criminal citation, and released.
February 19: Officers responded to a domestic dispute
in the 1600 block of Peace Portal Drive. During the investigation,
a female was arrested on a Blaine warrant. She was booked
into jail on the warrant, violating a no contact order,
malicious mischief after damaging property at the station.
February 18: A Pennsylvania resident reported having
been the victim of a possible E-Bay related scam involving
a suspect living in Blaine. The case is under investigation.
February 18: Officers received information that a
man was observed stripping parts from some parked cars in
the Yorkys truck lot. Officers contacted the man and
determined he owned the cars. No crime.
February 17: A resident reported his car dolly valued
at $750 had been stolen from his back yard in the 1400 block
of Mitchell Street. The case is under investigation.
February 17: A resident in the 100 block of Boundary
Court reported telephone harassment by a juvenile using
profanity. The resident used *69 and the internet reverse
directory to track the suspects. A Blaine officer advised
the juveniles parents of the complaint.
February 16: While on a traffic stop at mile post
274 southbound I-5, officers were nearly struck by another
vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was stopped and arrested
for reckless driving. He was issued a criminal citation
and released.
February 16: An officer saw a person throwing a bag
of trash out his window. He proceeded to back down an interstate
on-ramp. He was stopped and issued an infraction for backing
and a criminal citation for littering.
February 15: A concerned parent in the 600 block
of Peace Portal Drive reported his daughter may have been
furnished with alcohol. An officer conducted an investigation
and discovered alcohol had been furnished by a minor who
had stolen beer. The case is under investigation.
February 15: Officers responded to a report of vandalism
in the 300 block of Alder Street. Officers contacted the
reporting party and learned his car had been egged. There
are no suspects at this time. Under investigation...
