Edythe Elizabeth Gallinger Sipes, 80, of Birch Bay, WA passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Stafholt Good Samaritan Society in Blaine of complications from several strokes. 

Edythe was born in Seattle, WA on April 2, 1933 to LeRoy and Jackie Gallinger, both of whom have preceded her in death. 
She was an only child. She graduated from Washington State University in May of 1954 with a BA degree in English. She met her future husband, Ray Dell Sipes, during her senior year at WSU, and they were married on September 11, 1954 in Seattle, WA.

Edythe enjoyed playing cards (Bridge and Pinochle), bowling, working crossword puzzles, reading, watching the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners, playing piano, walking on the beach, and Happy Hour with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Dell Sipes, and her children:  John Sipes (Debi), Raylene Sipes Houck (Jeff), and Jodi Sipes. She is also survived by six grandchildren:  Crystal Anderton (Josh), Tim Burns (Jess), Melanie Hartl (Philippe), Stephanie Pasceri (Brent), Matthew Sipes (Mary), and Elizabeth Otten (Jake); along with twelve great-grandchildren. 

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial Happy Hour was held in her honor. A Celebration of Life for all of her family and friends will be held at a future date in 2014. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
