Long-time Blaine resident, William “Bill” Schouten, age 86, passed away at Stafholt Care Center on Monday, Dec. 9.
Born in Lynden on Aug. 26, 1927, Bill married Clazina Lagerwey on Sept. 27, 1950. He served in the US Merchant Marine and worked at Intalco for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife Clazina; children Sharon Schouten, Wayne (Val) Schouten, Mike (Kim) Schouten and Barbara
(Michael) Wehrs; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Besides his parents Arie and Anna Schouten, Bill was preceded in death by a son Brian in 1991, four brothers and a sister.
Visitation hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the United Church of Christ Church in Blaine. Burial will precede the service at 12:30 p.m. in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden.
