Mary Hill, age 79, passed away peacefully in Bellingham on November 1, 2012, surrounded by family at Mt. Baker Care Center. Mary was born on August 13, 1933 in Blaine, Washington to Worth and Carrie Seimears. She was the wife of Dolph Hill, who passed away in 2004. She is survived by her sister Grace Bladies and husband Gerald; her three children, Mary Lee Hill, Dennis Hill, Mike Hill (Skye); four grandchildren, Asialee Hill, Alyssa Ellingboe (Pete), Angela Engles (John), Spencer
Hill, Cody Nolte, and three great grandchildren.
Mary was raised on her parents’ farm on Dakota Creek outside of Blaine. She graduated from Blaine High School and lived her entire life in the Blaine area. She married the love of her life, Dolph, in 1954. After several years working for National Bank of Commerce, she joined her husband Dolph and they spent many years together working in Blaine as owners of the Pastime.
Mary was a very loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed being there for all. Her favorite times were holiday gatherings and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She touched the lives of many people throughout Whatcom County. Mary loved Mariner’s baseball and going for drives throughout the county. She was mom and grandma to many kids and was blessed with a wonderful smile. She enjoyed lovingly teasing us with her witty sense of humor. Those who were fortunate to know her often referred to her as being one of the sweetest people they ever met.
A special thanks to her caretakers who assisted her the last three years. Also the family is very grateful for the kind care and support she received in her last days at Mt. Baker Assisted Living. Mary was a lifetime member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Blaine. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, November 7.
