Robert (Bob) Newby of Blaine went to be with his Lord on Saturday evening, June 23, 2012.
Bob was born on August 5, 1935 in Long Beach, California and was raised in Glendale, California where his grandfather operated a real estate business for many years.
After graduation from a Glendale high school, Bob worked for the city of Glendale water and power for six years. He then worked for the Los Angeles Water and Power, and he and his wife, JoAn, and daughter, lived in Glendale and Burbank, California and Boulder City, Nevada until his retirement in 1998.
Bob was always a great lover of the outdoors, nature and especially pertaining to the ocean, boating, and weather. He was a active member of the U. S. Coast Guard auxiliary while in Nevada where he and his boat crew patrolled the waters of Lake Mead. He was always ready to help anybody in trouble.
While in Washington Bob also was an extremely enthusiastic member of the Blaine Senior Center, the weight lifting program and the Bocce ball games and tournament.
He will be greatly missed by those who came to know him.
A short graveside service will be held Friday, June 29 and a potluck finger-food memorial service is being planned at the Blaine Senior Center in his honor at the Blaine Senior Center on Wednesday, July 11.
