Kathryn “Roberta” Sherman was born May 25, 1938, in Everett to Ellsworth and Kathryn Mygatt Jennings. She grew up in Marysville with brothers Richard (“Dick”) and Ralph. Roberta graduated from Marysville High School in 1957.

On June 20, 1959, Roberta married Alvin Leroy Sherman. They made their home in Bellingham, Portland, Edmonds, Lynnwood and Lynden while Al worked for the Air Force and Customs and Border Protection. They built a home in Blaine and moved in during the fall of 1972.

Roberta loved crafting, bowling, playing cards, cooking and baking. She was an avid supporter of the Blaine schools and athletic programs. A founding member of the Blaine Athletic Association, Roberta could be found cheering at all of her children’s games. She never failed to be the classroom helper mom and supported all of her children’s activities. Roberta was also involved with the Orthopedic Guild and the Blaine Food Bank for many years.

A wonderful grandma to her eight grandchildren, Roberta cared for and gave them all her love while she was able. Preceding her in death are both parents and brother Ralph. Roberta leaves behind husband Al; brother Dick (Anita) Jennings; niece Laura (Peter) Ashurst; nephew Linn (Michelle) Jennings; and three children: Marlene (Ross) Oliver, Marysville; Bill (Georgia) Sherman, Blaine; and Kathy (Oscar) Garcia, Blaine.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at Birch Bay Bible Community Church, 4460 Bay Road, Blaine.
