Joe Barber: September 4, 1924 – August 3, 2011
Joe Barber 86, of Blaine passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.
Joe was born September 4, 1924 in Blaine to Frank and Marie (Bottero) Barber. He owned a barbershop in Blaine for over 40 years after serving honorably with the Merchant Marine in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beatrice of Blaine; son, Matt of Blaine; daughters, Pat of Everett and Julia (Cory) Swinburnson of Blaine; brother, Tom (Marguerite) of New Braunfels, TX; three granddaughters, Brianna and Rachel McWilliam of Blaine; and Isabella Zane of Fernley, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Joe's request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held in the form of an open house on Saturday, August 13 from 3 – 6 p.m. at Julia and Cory’s home in Blaine. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Joe's name to the Salvation Army, Whatcom County Humane Society or Blaine Food Bank.
