Joanne Claudia Slivinski
February 13, 1950 – May 19, 2011

Joanne Claudia Slivinski, age 61, passed into her heavenly rest on May 19. Jo was raised in Santa Monica, CA. Her parents, Stan and Skippy Slivinski, preceded her in death. She was educated in California, served in the Navy, and received her English degree from Whitworth College, Spokane. She was a gifted writer and spent many years doing technical writing. In 1990 she met Stew Sanders the love of her life, and the two shared many adventures at sea and on road trips in their Bluebird Coach.

Jo was a gifted musician, mastered many baroque and stringed instruments, and her voice was angelic. She and Stew hosted neighborhood sing-a-longs and inspired many, young and old, to appreciate a wide range of music. She was part of the Troubadours who entertained in many venues. Jo had a keen intellect and strong political convictions. She organized the Birch Point community around several issues. Jo loved animals, especially her cats. Jo will be missed by her many friends in the Birch Bay community.

She is survived by Stew, and a brother Stanley and family. A private family service will be held. Stew would welcome your thoughts and memories and covet your prayers as he grieves the loss of his dearest friend. Guest book is online at
